Kootenay-Rockies Model Engineers Club met at the Prestige Inn on December 6, 2006 at 7:00 pm. There were 14 prospective members present with 8-10 no shows.

Presently, the Club is going through an organizational phase as most new clubs do.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Howie and accepted.

The ongoing developments regarding the mini train ride, the CPR lease, city zoning bylaws, and the funding were discussed at great length.

The installation funding for the rail line is scheduled for February 26, 2007.

Gary Anderson of the Museum outlined the first phase of the of the track-laying, funding, and the Museum's position.

Todd Pellerin of Hub Insurance discussed Insurance options and is in the process of obtaining quotes.

As some of our executive members have moved on, there was a call for new executives and volunteers for the Board of Directors. The following expressed their willingness to serve:
  • President: Ron Bussy
  • Secretary Treasurer: George Evans
  • Director: Howie Mason
  • Director: Dave Mayes
  • Director: Dennis Nonnweiller
George Evans was to apply for registration under the Society's Act for the K-RMEC.

There was a lengthy discussion on training and testing. Howie will conduct the seminars to all requests.

There was a general discussion on the direction the club should take in regards to the running of the trains for public use.

The following needs to be done before the next meeting of January 24, 2007, at the Prestige Inn at 7:00pm:
  • hold executive meeting
  • insurance update
  • seminar start date
  • update on the Society's Act
  • track construction standards
Masons Trains has a rare occurrence happening at their place; they have an Atlantic, a Pacific, and a Hudson all being assembled simultaneously. This is a once in a lifetime occurrence to see all 3 models in the shop, and all at the same time!
